Retro Rewind and More!

Almost a year ago I met a dude named Shea from Kansas City at the Mama Tried show. We were mutual friends' thru Noot and hit it off right away. He said he wanted to port the heads on his XLCH and I said I wanted some tattoos, so we struck a deal!

Noot had told me about this Retro Rewind show in Debuque, IA. I figured if I was goin to go south I might as well make it to Kansas City. So Brandon and I took off Wednesday night headed for Des Moines, IA. It was smooth sailin' once we figured out where all the cops were.

Some random pics from Kung Fu's bathroom. Haha. We had a lot of fun hanging with Fatty and checked out the GT lounge as well.

We planned on getting a room but we were feeling pretty chipper so we forged on to KC that night. That's 4:26am. Haha

We caught a little rest Thursday morning(Brandon did, I couldn't sleep) then Shea took us on a little tour of the town before we went to the tattoo shop.

Then he got to work! My wife loves the ocean and figures she should have been a mermaid. My dad got one tattoo(winged wheel) when he was a kid and always preaches about how dumb it is to mess with your largest organ(your skin) Haha

Brandon got his knuckles worked on.

Then we screwed around town for awhile. Toured the Union train station which was really neat, ate at a lil dive bar which was really good, drove around blaring Dave Allan Coe which was a lot fun! Haha. Shea took us by their car clubs shop and we got to meet Dave, the new caretaker.

Friday morning we loaded up Dave's digger and Shea's XLCHopper headed for Debuque.

We stopped at the National Motorcycle Museum in Anamosa which is totally worth the drive and $10 ticket. (I'll have to do a seperate post on this place because holy shit there is a lot of stuff in there)

We loaded in the show and headed for the Eronel to get loaded. 3 on the tree played(Ricky said they sucked, but I can't tell the difference, so we partied)
Even Noots dad stayed til bar close, dancing and having a ball. Brandon and I went to bed but I guess we missed cannonballs in the pool and a case of wine in the lobby.

The show started 9am Saturday and they were showing a film in the theatre about signpainters I wanted to see. I had to drag my ass out of bed but I made it. Mike Meyer from Mazeppa was on there so that was cool!

Then it was time to check out the show, and check out if everyone else made it through the night.

It was quite the weekend and just the getaway I needed mid-winter. So much to see and do, to take in and experience. Old friends and new. Fun Times!
