HP is in the Heads

Started on these heads today. I love cutting the valvejob. It is one of the most critical things to get right when doing headwork.

Do Your Nipples Hurt?

"Why dont we see who can ride the longest with no shirt on?" So we did, all the way home, 49 degrees x 80mph.

Bike Night Encore!

The weather is perfect for riding, the beer will be cold, good food, good people. Get on your scoot and ride before its gone. I will be with my better half tonight being all domestic and celebrating our anniversary!

Day with Dave Storlien

Rode my bike up to the cities today to visit Dave and congratulate him on his recent 2nd place finish in Popular HotRodding's Engine Masters Competition. Once again Dave trounces the competition while doing all machining/assembly in his garage! He also invited me to pilot the roadster at next years MSRA event, which should be wild considering it went 9.93 at this years event.

Custom 6061 jugs with SBC sleeves. Been like this for the past 20 years. Owner is Rich of Hudson County Cycles. He said it was dubbed "The Knucklbuster" and made it into a couple of magazines. He said that wasn't his idea for it; he just built it to RIDE.

Aimlessly Wandering...

Yesterday I was able to get on the bike and do the left turn, right turn, repeat ride until I found myself in the middle of nowhere in Wisconsin on some of the narrowest paved roads I have ever been on. There was a point for about 5 miles I wondered if it was still a road because the leaves were so deep.

I came across a burnt up combine that must have happened the night before because the smell of burning metal was in full effect. Also ran into some kid that was doing some shake down runs on a full race plastic sport bike. Although he was wearing shorts, sandles, and no glasses or helmet...has me wondering what the hell was going on.

BLAST

Can u see that wiring?

Here's a close-up of what's going on. Can't see much cuz there isn't. I think the coolest part of doing wiring is figuring out where to hide it. I love working on these things and starting from scratch. Chris, thanks for letting me keep the chopper spirit alive and the beer/grub!

Note how ironically the culprit is in front of the cycle shop. Start seeing motorcycles.

Fall Colors

I didn't have to work today so I took my wife on a nice 120 mile cruise. It makes me sick to think that I might not feel 80 degree riding again for 7-8 months. Rest assured I will think about it every day until it happens again.

Ch...Ch...Chainges?

After ripping 9 teeth off the belt during our last outing to the dragstrip I ordered Zippers chain conversion kit. I really liked the belt, no mess, no noise, no maintenance. If I knew the next belt would make it 30K miles like the last I would have just bought another belt.

The chain does look better on there than I thought it would, but I'm not sold yet. Check back in 10K miles, aka next fall.

Oldies9

The man in the photo is my grandfather. He owned Lehmanns Tavern on Hwy 52 just south of 55th st, on the west side of the road. The pine trees are still there, although very big now, and a dentistry place is built there. It was a 2 lane road then. My dad tells of mobsters pulling up to get fuel with a dead guy propped up in the back, heading from minneaplis back to chicago, obviously handling their own business.

Cmon. This guy couldn't be sweeter!

Thanks for the LOVE!
